My Story: From Infertility and Obesity to Healing and Wholeness

I had always been what people would call a “chubby” child, though I was also athletic and active. In my 20s, I made a real effort to eat right and exercise consistently. At 19, I managed to lose 70 pounds and finally reached my ideal weight—but the victory was short-lived. I gained all the weight back within a year, and from there, my weight became a rollercoaster of ups and downs.

I eventually got married and began what would become a ten-year journey through infertility. Deep down, I always knew something was off—my menstrual cycles had never been regular. Eventually, I gave up hope of ever becoming a mother and decided to shift my focus. I enrolled in naturopathic medical school at Bastyr University, where I studied botanical medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, and physical medicine like chiropractic and massage therapy.

Then one day, in a pathology class, I learned about a condition called PCOS—Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. The moment I heard the symptoms, something clicked. I knew this was what I had been dealing with all along. A doctor confirmed the diagnosis, and from there, everything changed.

Armed with my training and a deep personal mission, I designed my own holistic healing protocol. I focused on diet, exercise, gut health, and several integrative modalities. In time, I became pregnant—naturally—with my first child. Once my body had healed, getting pregnant became easier. I went on to have four children, starting at age 34 and having my last at 42.

But during that time, my weight reached its highest point. I noticed a pattern: I would lose weight during pregnancy, then gain it back while breastfeeding. This repeated across all four pregnancies until I found myself obese, going through a divorce, and raising a newborn. I hit a breaking point. I knew something had to change.

So, I returned to my roots—everything I had learned at Bastyr. I began intermittent fasting and joined Weight Watchers. I committed to a full-body detox every three months. All of this happened during the pandemic, with gyms closed and life turned upside down. I worked out from home, leaned into consistency, and after one year, I had lost over 100 pounds.

By 2021, the world began reopening, and I started lifting weights at the gym, eating clean, and staying on my detox and gut health protocols. That momentum never stopped. Today, I’ve kept the weight off for over three years.

My journey has been far from easy, but it has shaped my mission: to help other women heal, transform, and reclaim their bodies—naturally.
